A Barrier is a type of disruption that, unlike Rocks and Blocks, do not occupy a tile, but instead covers it and prevents it from being moved. An icon covered by a Barrier will stay frozen on that tile until the Barrier is removed. That means that it will not fall even if there are empty tiles beneath it.
- Making a match with an icon in a Barrier will remove the Barrier, but not the icon itself, which remains for matching again (unless the icon is a Mega Evolved icon).
- It can be erased through certain skills such as Barrier Bash(+ , ++ ), Barrier Shot and Stabilize (+ ,++). There is a delay that lasts about a second where the icon that remains do not get matched, and can fall before it can.
- If the covered icon disappears, the Barrier also disappears.
